Pilates

My background
My interest in movement comes from my dance background. Having danced from a young age I moved to London to train professionally at London Studio Centre and London Contemporary Dance School, from which I graduated with a BA(Hons) Degree in Contemporary Dance in 2003. I am currently also completing a Master’s Degree in Choreography. During my training I was exposed to both the formal techniques of Ballet and Cunningham, as well as the more postmodern contact improvisation and releasing techniques which emphasize knowledge of experiential anatomy to enhance movement and develop new ways of approaching the body as a creative tool. I trained to be a Pilates Mat-work Teacher with the Pilates Foundation and have been teaching freelance since February 2007. My interest in developing an enhanced physicality through a deeper body awareness informs both my creative and teaching practice.
